Choose Powerfully: Being the Calm in the Storm

Choose powerfully

Choosing powerfully isn’t always easy. Especially in the face of a storm.

Less than a month after KAMIKAZE SEAGULL was published on this same site, a global bomb dropped seemingly out of nowhere. It will undoubtedly leave a mark.

Speaking of birds, this morning Allison and I woke up to several of them chirping outside our window. And they didn’t seem too worried. But I digress.

Our life as we know it has been disrupted. The economy has been rocked and entire industries are threatened. Communities have been displaced. Leaders, politicians, the media, and individuals all over the world are scrambling for answers and for solutions.

Choose Simply

In any uncertain time, our choices matter. What we focus on. As well as how we utilize our time and other resources, what we talk about and post about….

We can be part of the problem or part of the solution. Grow fear or faith. Engage in foolishness or seek wisdom. Criticize and condemn, or uplift and encourage.

Choose Powerfully

Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.

Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich

Remind yourself, “I can choose…

Choose powerfully
  • Peace. Take care of your spiritual and emotional well being (see Three Morning Disciplines). Protect your peace and help others do the same.
  • Prayer. For those affected and infected. And their families and caretakers. For our leadership and the media.
  • Gratitude. There is always something to be grateful for. Who do you love? What are you taking for granted? What’s really important?
  • Compassion. Do you know someone who is scared, confused, or angry? Comfort those who are hurting. Encourage a friend who lost job. Let someone know you care.
  • Growth. In the midst of every adversity there are opportunities. So where are they for you and for your business? What problems can you help solve in this new normal? How can you change direction personally and professionally?

Choose Now

Your choices matter. When you choose powerfully you positively impact the people you lead, love and serve. And In doing so you create a ripple effect throughout our entire planet.
